[NOTE: journals are boring. You're not obliged to read this (and you probably won't anyway) ]

From time to time I come here just to check if my account is still active. :)

It's the well-known story of laziness and change of priorities. That is why I rarely post here, but keep the door open. Photography Magazine The Inspired Eye made a small feature of my photographs recently, maybe it'll motivate me to engage myself working with the photo camera (more often) again. Since I switched almost completely to cell phone camera and Instagram, it makes me more able to "freeze a moment", carrying something so lightweight and easy to work with. It also spares time. I still work with the camera and take it sometimes "for a walk" with me, but my preferred tool now is the smartphone. Many would say it's the excuse of lazy people (yes, I'm lazy), the quality of such photographs is poor (well, I'm not doing National Photography stories, fashion editorials or ads for billboards, just captures of small, insignificant, yet interesting things), or that it leads to overproduction and loss of creativity (sometimes it spurred my creativity, and bad images can be made both with the best equipment and with cell phones). There are a lot more pro and con arguments, but to be honest: I don't really care for what the critics say about mobile phone photography - I enjoy it.

That being said, I hope to find patience and time to go through new works of the people I watch, and to post-process and publish something myself. Sometimes I miss dA. :)

A note to visitor: this account is not abandoned. B-) (Cool)
A note to watchers: I've had a lot of work and other obligations lately, so my motivation to take photos ebbed. Even when I had my moments of inspiration, I had no willingness to post-process anything and to publish - Instagram is great for quickies OMG! I can't contain my excitement! . I hope to change this and visit here more often.

Take care. :aww:

Today is Black cat appreciation day!

Show some love for these beautiful creatures and adopt a black cat - thanks to stupid supertitions (=stupidity of people), they're people's last choice when adopting.
This is a selection from my Favourites folder - I didn't realise I've selected so many cats, especially my favourite ones - the black cats. :aww:

Dear friends,

in just a few days the devastating flood in the Balkans has turned lives of thousands of people into a nightmare in Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Heavy rains have caused rivers to surge into villages and towns, cover the streets, break dams (which caused quick flooding of, as some say, "biblical proportions"), and sweep everything along the way. Officially 35 people lost their lives, and thousands lost their homes. The flood led to landslides in many areas, carrying or burying houses, and what is even worse - some of landslide locations are mine fields remaining after the 90's war, which have now moved and represent an additional danger.

During these days volunteers from the affected countries, as well as foreign helpers, are working 24/7 rescuing people from the flooded areas, collecting humanitarian aid and delivering it to the victims. The amount of empathy and solidarity is incredible, and for a short time the nations who usually hate each other united in offering help to each other in this common misery. Even animal rescuers work incessantly to save the surviving pets and domestic animals, the asylum seekers in Croatia joined rescue forces, China shop owners in Serbia gave away the necessary stock of rubber boots and clothes for free. It really is touching, despite incidents of thieves trying to rob the flooded houses and false donation account numbers appearing on the net.

In those places where water has receded, huge amounts of mud, broken trees, sewage sludge, litter and animal carcasses remained. The mud is drying and turning into fine dust carrying infectants through the air, threatening with diseases. The weather has abruptly changed into almost summer heats and mosquitos are everywhere. Rats and snakes, fleeing from water, entered inhabitated areas where flood has receded, and have swarmed deserted houses and buildings.

This major natural catastrophe isn't covered enough in world media.
The damages are inconceivable. The victims need your help. Even 1 $/EUR/CAD... will make a difference.
